Unilateral Eyelid Swelling Secondary to Local Palpebral Conjunctival Amyloidosis in a Young Patient

Purpose: We report a young patient with unilateral eyelid swelling secondary to local, palpebral conjunctival amyloidosis.Case summary: A 31-year-old male was referred 6-month history of mild, right upper but without redness or tenderness. Slit-lamp examination revealed diffuse hemorrhagic papilliform lesion on the conjunctiva, this raised suspicion giant papillary conjunctivitis. As unilateral, there no allergic disease contact lens use, and refractory topical anti-inflammatory treatment so, excisional biopsy conjunctiva performed. During operation, removed, it peeled off blade. After surgery, improved. Histopathological an eosinophilic amorphous deposit consistent amyloidosis. Further evaluation ruled out systemic amyloidosis; were abnormal findings. Thus, we diagnosed primary localized amyloidosis conjunctiva. At 1-year follow-up, recurrence detected.Conclusions: Although is rare, should be considered if chronic accompanied by another such as conjunctivitis encountered.
